LADY FINGER

A small single-serving-size sponge cake that's named for its long narrow, oval shape. The batter is poured into a mold or piped onto a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet and baked. Ladyfingers often are sprinkled with powdered sugar or sandwiched together with a filling and served as a cookie. They also can be used to make desserts such as a trifle.
