STEAK TARTARE

A mixture of lean raw ground beef, onion, seasonings and sometimes egg or egg yolk. The mixture is served as an appetizer spread on bread or crackers, or as a main dish in individual mounds. Because of possible bacterial contamination in raw ground meat and eggs, serving this dish is no longer recommended.
