Yiannis Lucacos was born in Virginia and grew up in Athens.
He returned to America to study Engineering but, upon completing his studies, he followed the culinary path, with studies at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and professional experience in New York. Upon his return to Greece, he continued his career as a chef with a large hotel group and opened his own “Psomi & Alati” restaurant in 2009.
Having already gained a series of distinctions, he accepted the proposal to participate as a judge in the “Masterchef” television program which was a great success and continued for 3 seasons. At the same time Yiannis Lucacos embarked on an additional way of sharing his knowledge and experience with the public: he published his first two cook books “Psomi & Alati – The Cookbook” and “Chef from the Beginning”. Soon after he created the www.yiannicLucacos.gr website, a comprehensive electronic cooking guide.
He began donning his “professor” hat more often, since the seminars he presents as a guest at various venues and companies increased. In March 2013 he became “Dr Cook” for the sake of the television program by the same name where he continues to present cooking classes on the small screen. In the summer of the same year he welcomed the first students to his very own seminar centre, “TheSeminarProject”. Alongside other popular and distinguished professional he offers hands-on cooking classes on a broad variety of subjects that cater for all and promises a special, comprehensive experience for all participants!
