A white, brown or black seedt hatis ground to make a powder for use as a seasoning or that is used whole as a pickling spice. When dry, mustard is rather bland, but when mixed with water and allowed to stand, the strength increases. This term also refers to the prepared mustard paste made from mustard powder and other ingredients. Prepared mustard is used as a condiment and as a recipe ingredient.
