OYSTER

A shellfish with rough, hinged shells and a soft, edible body. Oysters grow in brackish and salt water. The color and taste of an oyster vary depending on where it is grown. The color can be tan, cream or gray. Small oysters usually are cooked in the shell, large ones usually are fried. Oysters are also eaten raw.
